Board approves tentative District 15 Transportation Union contract

At its Dec. 12 meeting, the Board of Education approved a tentative 4.5 year contract with the District 15 Transportation Union (DTU). The new contract replaces the current bargaining agreement that was set to expire in 2020.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, all current employees will receive a $2/hour increase in pay. The starting bus driver wage will be increased to $19.18/hour, and the starting bus driver aide wage will be increased to $15.43/hour.

Effective July 1, 2019, all returning employees will receive an additional $1/hour increase in pay. The starting bus driver wage will be increased to $20/hour and starting bus driver aide wage will increase to $16.25/hour.

DTU is now reviewing the approved contract before signing the official agreement.

The union leadership worked collaboratively with the administration to attain an agreement that is mutually beneficial. We are confident this new contract will help recruit and retain school bus drivers, working toward eliminating the staffing shortages that have significantly impacted the consistency of our transportation services for our students and their families.
