Congratulations to five of our multilingual students at Willow Bend and their teacher, Ewa Pitcher, for writing poems that earned recognition from the Illinois Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages organization! Joy and pride abounded at the ceremony on February 24, 2023, as these bright and promising students read their winning poems with confidence to an eager and supportive audience!

Information about the Illinois TESOL-BE Annual Elementary Poetry Contest

Illinois TESOL-BE sponsors an Annual Elementary Poetry Contest. This is a great opportunity for your students to let their creativity shine, communicate powerfully in the English language, and express the importance of their own culture/cultural experiences. Through poetry, elementary students are exposed to literary elements in a meaningful and creative way.
