At the Board of Education Meeting on June 9, the Board recognized two students, Vignesh and Ashwin P., from Sanborn School who have gone above and beyond to help others through their philanthropic “hearts”. These caring students are a wonderful example of how our actions — large and small — can help those in need.
Inspired by PE teacher Mr. Merle's promotion of the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, they learned that a donation of $2,000 can help save a child's life. Sadly this year, due to the pandemic, Mr. Merle was not able to host his annual health-inspired fundraising event at GMS. However, this did not stop Ashwin and Vignesh! As so many organizations that were impacted due to the ongoing pandemic, one of the AHA representatives remembered Ashwin and Vignesh as being past top fundraisers in the Chicagoland area for the previous 2 years and decided to reach out to gauge their interest in getting involved again this year -- albeit in a different way. To do so, they launched their own fundraising campaign.
Vignesh and Ashwin were recently named the top fundraisers in the state and as of the Board meeting, they have each raised close to $2,500 and they are both still working hard to raise money that helps the lives of children in need! Congratulations Vignesh and Ashwin, you make us #ProudToBe15!
