District 15 Students Recognized at the North Cook Regional Office of Education
Two District 15 students were recently selected to have their artwork displayed at the North Cook Intermediate Service Center (NISC)/Regional Office of Education’s Student Art Display and Reception. The artwork was selected using the Illinois state art standards in alignment with the themes of “Peace, Hope, and/or Positivity”. NCISC recently moved into a new office and held an art contest with their regional schools.
The two students are Stefany G., a 4th grader at Stuart R. Paddock, and Andre A., a 4th grader at Marion Jordan. Following their teachers nominating their artwork for consideration, these two artists were selected among eight other students in the North Cook area. Their work was professionally framed and is now on display at the NCISC. The students and their families as well as teachers and District 15 staff members were invited to a reception on February 8, 2023, to honor and celebrate their work.
District 15 is so proud of these students for submitting their work and is appreciative to their teachers, Dave Kerkemeyer and Andre Zielinski, for supporting them and helping to provide them with a global audience.
In honor of March being Youth Art Month, District 15’s Board of Education is looking forward to recognizing these two student artists at its Board of Education meeting on March 8, 2023.
The photos included are the students’ artwork as well as photos from the Student Art Display Reception at the North Cook ISC.

Art in District 15
District 15 students have access to art education in elementary school as well as during electives classes in junior high. The District 15 visual art curriculum helps students understand how media, techniques, and processes are used to create works of art. District 15 visual art teachers use the arts as an instructional vehicle to strengthen the academic, emotional, creative, and social skills of all students. It is their goal that each child will develop a lifetime knowledge of, and appreciation for, the arts through increased participation in and exposure to all forms of artistic expression.
