Welcome from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Heinz

On behalf of the Board of Education and all of us in District 15, it is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to the new school year.

What is it about the start of a new year that is so exciting? Is it the sense of anticipation, or the endless possibilities that lie ahead? While each year feels a little different, the last few years have been especially energizing as we build on the progress of recent years and set our sights even higher. If you are entering our schools for the first time, it is a pleasure to have you as part of what I know you will find to be a wonderfully child-centered District. For those of you returning, welcome back.

Our theme, Aim High, Achieve Higher, reflects both our aspirations for students and our collective belief in what is possible when a community works together. In District 15, we know that academic success and personal growth are rooted in belonging. That’s why our mantra, You Belong Here, remains at the heart of all we do. We are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their highest potential.

Guided by our Strategic Plan, Moving All Learners Forward, Now and Into the Future, our work this year continues to focus on advancing academic success and a sense of belonging for every student, engaging and retaining our exceptional staff, strengthening the partnership between families and schools, and modernizing our learning environments to best serve students now and in the future. These priorities shape our daily efforts and keep us grounded in what matters most—the growth and well-being of our children.

Each school year provides a renewed sense of hope and confidence, knowing that our schools are stronger because of the commitment of our staff, the support of our families, and the resilience of our students. Together, we strove to build on our successes and create even more opportunities for every learner in District 15 to reach their fullest potential.

My promise to you is to keep listening, learning, and leading in partnership with our families and community. With shared purpose and high expectations, I know we will not only aim high but also achieve higher, together.

Here’s to a joyful, successful, and inspiring year of teaching and learning.

Your partner in education,

Laurie Heinz, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Student-Parent Handbook

While each school has its own unique characteristics, there are many policies and procedures that help anchor us as a District. The Student-Parent Handbook is designed to serve as a comprehensive reference guide for all things District 15. You will find nuts and bolts information on communication, safety, academics, and behavior to name just a few. Please take time to review the handbook and bookmark it on your favorites list for easy future reference.

Website and Communication App

In addition to our student handbook, the District 15 website  and ParentSquare (parent communication) app are additional ways to stay connected and access information. They are designed for ease of use on your mobile device, so you can find the information you want most about your school and District.
