In Community Consolidated School District 15, we embrace a learning-first, intentional approach to instructional technology that prioritizes student achievement, equity of access, and overall well-being. In partnership with our families and community, we purposefully integrate digital tools to expand access, deepen academic rigor, and remove barriers to learning. Central to this commitment is the D15 Portrait of a Digital Learner, which guides how our students use technology to think, question, and create. Technology in D15 does not replace traditional instruction; rather, it strategically complements hands-on exploration, face-to-face discussions, and physical movement. By maintaining developmentally appropriate screen time and prioritizing active creation over passive consumption, we empower every student to grow into a resilient, collaborative, and lifelong digital learner.

Embracing Dr. Michael Wesch's concept of being 'knowledge-ABLE,' we empower students to use technology for finding, analyzing, and evaluating information. This approach helps them make sense of the world, unlocking their passions and potential in a digital landscape.

School District 15 strives to provide a technology-rich learning environment in every classroom. The use of technology is consistent with the curriculum and the varied instructional needs, learning styles, abilities, and developmental levels of the students. Appropriate use and best practices are major concerns for technology use in School District 15. The district also has technology standards for students in Grades K-8.
