How to Become a Substitute Teacher
District 15 is looking for Substitute Teachers!

- Retired D15 Employee Teacher Substitute: $165/day
- Program Assistant Substitute: $105/day
- Create your own work schedule—substitute teachers may choose the days that they want to work and the days that they don’t want to work.
- Choose the grade levels and schools that you enjoy—substitute teachers may choose subbing assignments in the schools and grade level/content areas that they enjoy.
- Enjoy an academic calendar work schedule—with summers, winter break, and spring break off.
- It is an opportunity to give back to the community by working with CCSD15 students.
In order to become a substitute teacher in CCSD15, potential substitutes must:
- Be licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education by obtaining a Teaching Licence (Substitute, Short Term, or Paraprofessional).
- Complete a background check.
New & Aspiring Substitute Teacher Training
Date: Friday, August 23, 2024
Time: 10 am - 3 pm (lunch on your own, off site)
Location: 580 N 1st Bank Drive, Palatine
Fee: $30 registration fee for background check (cash or check)

This class is intended to help you obtain a Substitute License, either Short-term or Traditional. If you already hold a license in Illinois this training will not pertain to you.
To qualify for a license, you must have a minimum of 60 hours college credit or an Associate's Degree.
