Welcome to Nutrition Services
The Nutrition Services Department is responsible for operating one of the largest independent school meals programs in Illinois.
District 15 participates in the National School Lunch program, administered by the United States Department of Agriculture.
- We provide over 213,500 breakfasts and 1,050,000 lunches annually.
- We employ food and nutrition professionals dedicated to serving our students and staff appealing and healthy meals.
- We utilize nutritional analysis software to ensure that our meals meet or exceed all federal program requirements.
- Our elementary schools receive meals prepared at our central kitchen facility, located at Walter R. Sundling Middle School. Elementary menus offer 2-4 choices daily including freshly made salads, and protein power packs – a district favorite - made with yogurt, cheese sticks, peanut-free granola, and peanut-free goldfish crackers.
- Our middle schools have individual kitchens offering 5-6 prepared foods daily to students.
- All menus include a daily selection of fruits and vegetables, provided to students at no additional charge. Seasonal fruits such as melons, blueberries, grapes, strawberries, plums, pears, and locally grown fruits and vegetables are offered whenever possible.
