About Lake Louise and District 15
Lake Louise is home to close to 800 Pre-K through sixth-grade students. At Lake Louise we are student-centered and celebrate the diversity among all of us. We have very experienced staff members who choose to teach at Lake Louise because of their commitment to excellence in education and their dedication to helping each child reach their highest potential. Our school is located at 500 N. Jonathan Avenue in Palatine.
Lake Louise is one of 20 schools that make up Community Consolidated School District 15. District 15 is the second-largest elementary school district in Illinois, with 20 schools and nearly 13,000 students. More information about our district is available on our website. -

Monday–Thursday
- Gr 1-6—8:45 a.m.–3:25 p.m.
- AM K/PreK—8:45–11:20 a.m.
- PM K/PreK—12:50–3:25 p.m.
- Lunch—11:20 a.m.–1:15 p.m. (most grade have a 30 min lunch and a 30 min recess within this window)
Friday:
- Gr 1-6—8:45 a.m.–2:35 p.m.
- AM K—8:45–10:55 a.m.
- PM K—12:25–2:35 p.m.

Arrival/Departure Procedures
Arrival/Departure Procedures - Know the Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures - (see map here)
- Via vehicle, use the south side of the building (the back of the building). All the buses will remain in the front, which streamlines bus loading. Please approach the back of the building from the north end of Jonathan Drive (heading south) and make a Right turn into the back parking lot.
- If you would like to park and walk up to the south entrance (Door 5) you may do so by parking on the south end of Jonathan Dr. or in the spaces closest to the field/garden in the south lot. Please do not park in the car line or across the street in the condominium parking lot.
- Please understand that students exit the building at two different times: 3:20 p.m. (first bell) and 3:25p.m. (final bell). Your student may exit the building at different times each week so please be patient waiting in the car line. From our experience last year, the last car typically came through the car lane no later than 3:35 p.m.

Student Attendance
Student attendance is a vital component of your child's success here at Lake Louise School. Please make every effort to get your child to school each day.
If your child will not be in school due to illness or other circumstances, please call the attendance line at 847-963-5601 before the start of the school day. Any unverified absence will generate an attendance call home.

Transportation
If eligible for transportation services, your child's school bus information will be available by logging into Infinite Campus on/after 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 25. Click on the "Transportation" tab to view information. This information is also visible on the Infinite Campus mobile app.
- Parents of students who qualify for free bus service are able to request changes to their child's bus route between July 25 and Aug. 1. Please do not call your child's school with bus route change requests. A change request Google Form will be shared with parents through Campus Parent and email on July 25. This form must be filled out for a bus route change consideration to be made. Any changes that we are able to accommodate will be visible on Campus Parent by Aug. 9.
- Any bus change requests made after Aug. 1 will not be routed until Sept. 3.
- Paid riders will not be in place until the week of Aug. 5-9. At that time, parents of paid riders may log into Infinite Campus to check their route(s). Paid riders cannot ask for changes in routes until after Labor Day.

Teacher Assignment
Your child's classroom teacher assignment will be available to view by logging into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal on/after Tuesday, August 6, at 9 a.m. A free mobile app for Infinite Campus is also available to download.
To access our district, search for “Palatine 15” in the search box. Please note, if you have a child attending District 211 or 214, you must log out of his or her account and log into the District 15 account to see your District 15 child’s information.
Upon completion of online registration, you were prompted to create a Campus Parent account. If you forgot your password or username, click "forgot my password" or “forgot my username” and information will be emailed to you.
If you did not yet complete online registration, please do so as soon as possible. You will not be able to access teacher or bus information without completing this process. Please follow the instructions available on our website to register your child online.

School Supply Lists
Lake Louise school has supply information listed by grade level available on our website.
Printed copies are available just inside the first set of doors (Door 1) in the round magazine rack. If you are unable to purchase supplies due to financial issues please let us know or contact the Palatine Opportunity Center at 847-776-9500 or 847-776-2523. They can connect you with community agencies that help families with school supplies.

Health Forms
For the purpose of safeguarding the health of children, District 15 enforces Illinois student health requirements. These requirements consist of health, dental, and eye exams and immunizations specific to grade and age.
Health exams are required for students entering preschool, kindergarten, sixth grade, and those who are new to the school. The Certificate of Child Health Examination form is available online and in the school office.
The exam form, completed and signed by a licensed healthcare provider, must be dated within one year prior to the first day of school and must include lead screening for children who are six years or younger and diabetes screening.
Health forms can be brought to the school office at any time.
On October 15, students who have not provided a health exam or required immunizations will be excluded from school. Students new to Illinois schools, who register midterm, have 30 days following registration to comply with the health requirements.

School Nutrition Services
District 15 offers healthy breakfast and lunch options for students each school day.
- Lunch/Breakfast: Due to a special grant (CEP), lunch and breakfast is free to ALL Lake Louise students without qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Any student can have breakfast and lunch everyday without incurring any cost.
- Menus are available to view by using MealViewer and selecting "Lake Louise Elementary" as your school choice.

Welcome to the start of the 2019-2020 school year. I am very excited to start my 5th year as principal and my 8th year at Lake Louise. Lake Louise is a very special place and I am honored to be able to lead such a dedicated, caring, intelligent, and hardworking staff.
I also feel fortunate to work with parents that want the best education for their children. Lake Louise is both a place where students can dive into learning and excel academically, as well as develop lasting friendships and connections with their teachers. Lake Louise is truly a gem of District 15.
We know that the start of the school year is full of new beginnings and we want to help you prepare for those. Here are a few ways you can help support your child:
Tuesday, August 13, 2019 - Meet the Teacher Day
- 9:00-10:00 a.m. ALL grades (Kinder-6th) and Preschool (ECDEC AM classes)
- 1:00-2:00 p.m. Preschool (ECDEC PM classes)
- During this event, teachers will welcome you and your children to their classrooms. Please feel free to bring in any school supplies at this time.
- We will be selling expandables for grades 4th and 6th for $3.50
- We will be selling assignment notebooks for 4th, 5th, and 6th for $3.50
Tuesday, August 13, 2019 - New Family Orientation and School Tour (including Kindergarten and ECDEC)
- 8:30-9:00 a.m. The PTA president and myself would like to welcome new families, as well as kindergarten and preschool families to Lake Louise. A very short orientation meeting in the cafeteria will take place before the tour. This event will finish right before the “meet the teacher” event.

All families of current students are welcome to learn about the academic and social expectations for their children at that grade level. The times for orientation are different for each grade level. Please see the schedule below:

PBIS Behavior Expectations
The goal of our PBIS behavior expectations is to focus on teaching and accountability for positive behaviors that promote success in school. When students are being safe, respectful, and responsible in school or on the bus they will be acknowledged by staff and bus drivers. Your student will be held accountable for demonstrating the behaviors on this matrix so please take a few moments to review it with your child (English / Spanish).

Registration
Please use this LINK to access the parent portal on Infinite Campus. This parent portal is where you can access teacher assignment (on August 6th) and bus information. It is also where you can use the activation code (that District sent to all parents) to start the registration process if you have not already.
Social Emotional Learning
At Lake Louise we want students to grow their social emotional learning all day everyday. We teach five important mindsets: empathy, flexibility, persistence, resilience, and optimism. Please read about it here (English / Spanish).
We also use a set of program materials to teach social emotional skills called Second Step. For more specific information about Second Step lessons please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
I am excited that we will be welcoming two new assistant principals to Lake Louise this year. Megan Preis comes to us with a wealth of experience as an instructional coach in several districts as well as working closely with our new superintendent Dr. Laurie Heinz. She will be with us full time. Josh Cimo worked as an assistant principal Feb - June last school year and will return to serve at Lake Louise halftime this year. He was a special education teacher in our district for many years and will lead the way with special education services at Lake Louise.
I am so excited about all the wonderful things to come during the 2019-2020 school year. Mrs. Preis, Mr. Cimo, and I look forward to welcoming you and your students on Meet the Teacher day, Tuesday, August 13, at 9 a.m. and then on the first day of school; Wednesday, August 14 (Thursday, August 15 for Kindergarten and Preschool only). Please feel free to reach out to me or Mrs. Preis, or Mr. Cimo at anytime. We both enjoy working in partnerships with students and parents.

- A través de vehículos, use el lado sur del edificio (la parte posterior del edificio). Todos los autobuses estarán en frente, lo cual sentimos facilitara la carga de los autobuses. Por favor de ir a la parte de atrás del del edifício desde el extremo norte de Jonathan Drive (hacia el sur) y gire a la derecha para dar vuelta al estacionamiento de atrás.
- Si quisiera estacionarse y caminar a la entrada del sur (puerta 5), usted se puede estacionar en el extremo sur de Jonathan Dr. o en los espacios más cercanos al campo/jardin en el lote del sur. Por favor no se estacioné en la línea de carros o en la calle enfrente de los estacionamientos de los condominios.
- Por favor entienda que los estudiantes salen del edificio a dos horas diferentes: 3:20pm (primera campana) y 3:25pm (campana final). Su estudiante puede salir del edifício a diferentes horas cada semana, así que por favor sea paciente esperando en la línea de carros. Con nuestra experiencia del año pasado, el último carro típicamente pasaba por el carril no más tarde de 3:35pm.

Asistencia estudiantil

Transportación
Si es elegible para servicios de transportación, la información de autobús escolar estará disponible al entrar a Infinite Campus a las 9 a.m. en jueves, 25 de julio. Para acceder a nuestro distrito, busque "Palatine 15" en el cuadro de búsqueda. Tenga en cuenta que si tiene un hijo que asiste al Distrito 211 o 214, debe desconectarse de su cuenta e iniciar sesión en la cuenta del Distrito 15 para ver la información de su hijo en el Distrito 15.

Útiles Escolares
La escuela de Lake Louise tiene información sobre útiles escolares por nivel de grado disponible en nuestro sitio web.
Las copias impresas están disponibles justo dentro del primer juego de puertas (Puerta 1) en el rotativo de revistas. Formularios de Salud
Los exámenes médicos son requeridos para los estudiantes que estarán entrando a preescolar, kindergarten, sexto, y todos que son nuevos a nuestra escuela. El formulario de certificación del examen de salud, o examen físico, está disponible en línea o en la escuela.
El formulario de examen, completado y firmado por un proveedor de atención médica con licencia, debe estar fechado dentro de un año antes del primer día de clases y debe incluir pruebas de detección de plomo para niños de seis años o menos y pruebas de detección de diabetes.
Los formularios pueden ser traídos a la escuela en cualquier momento.

Bienvenidos al comienzo del año escolar 2019-2020. Estoy muy emocionada de comenzar mi quinto año como directora y mi octavo año en Lake Louise. Lake Louise es un lugar muy especial y es un honor ser capaz de dirigir un personal tan dedicado, cariñoso, trabajador e inteligente.
También me siento afortunada de trabajar con padres que quieren la mejor educación para sus hijos. Lake Louise es a la vez un lugar donde los estudiantes pueden sumergirse en el aprendizaje y la excelencia, y poder desarrollar una amistad duradera y conexiones con sus maestros. Lake Louise es una auténtica joya del Distrito 15.

Expectativas de Comportamiento de PBIS
La meta de las expectativas de comportamiento de PBIS es enfocar la enseñanza y la responsabilidad de buenos comportamientos en algo positivo que promueva éxito en la escuela. Cuando los estudiantes sean cuidadosos, respetuosos y responsables en la escuela o en el autobús, serán reconocidos por los conductores y maestros. Su estudiante será responsable de demostrar los comportamientos en la matriz de comportamientos, así que tómese unos minutos para revisarlo con su hijo/a (Inglés - Español)

Registracion
Utilice este LINK para acceder al portal para padres en Infinite Campus. Este portal para padres es donde puede acceder a la asignación de maestros (el 6 de agosto) y a la información del autobús. También es donde puede usar el código de activación (que el Distrito envió a todos los padres) para comenzar el proceso de registro si aún no lo ha hecho.
Aprendizaje socioemocional

Estoy muy contenta de que este año daremos la bienvenida a dos nuevos subdirectores en Lake Louise.
