Kathleen Blaheta, Walter R. Sundling Middle School

Kathleen Blaheta, Walter R. Sundling Middle School

December 10, 2025

We are pleased to share the December 2025 Above and Beyond Staff Recognition honoree, Kathleen Blaheta, Math Teacher at Walter R. Sundling Middle School.

Ms. Blaheta was nominated by WRS Assistant Principals Abbey Grabowski and Tony Illescas, Principal Jason Dietz, and Coordinator Stephanie Reuter for her exceptional commitment to students, colleagues, and the WRS community.

Mrs. Blaheta has been a steady leader in the school’s MTSS work, serving for years as a Tier 2 Coach and supporting data systems, intervention planning, and staff training. Her colleagues consistently rely on her expertise in troubleshooting spreadsheets, managing DPR processes, and guiding staff through technology and PowerSchool implementation. Her clarity, patience, and ability to build staff confidence have strengthened buildingwide systems.

Beyond MTSS, Ms. Blaheta contributes meaningfully to school culture. She has coached track, served as Tournament Director, and is an active member of the WRS Social Committee. She is widely known for her creativity, school spirit, and willingness to step in and help wherever there is a need. Whether supporting curriculum, assisting the office, or offering a listening ear, she is a reliable and positive presence throughout the building.

Her long-standing collaboration with Palatine High School has further supported student transitions and reinforced shared programming between schools.

Ms. Blaheta’s leadership, collaboration, and genuine care for others make her deeply deserving of this month’s recognition. Please join us in congratulating Kathleen Blaheta for going Above and Beyond in service to District 15.
