Above & Beyond Recognition - Tamara Byrne

Above & Beyond Recognition - Tamara Byrne

June 2026

On behalf of Illinois PTA, we are honored to recognize Principal Tamara Byrne with a Certificate of Outstanding Support for Children’s Arts and Family Engagement.

As the oldest and largest child advocacy association in the United States, PTA takes great pride in advocating for public education and strengthening family-school partnerships. Our mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Principal Byrne exemplifies this mission through her leadership, collaboration, and steadfast commitment to students and families.

Through her partnership with Illinois PTA, Principal Byrne played a vital role in hosting Spotlight at Thomas Jefferson Middle School on April 18, 2026, the culminating celebration of the National PTA Reflections Program in Illinois. This statewide event recognized and celebrated student artists whose creativity and achievements reflect the power of arts education to inspire confidence, expression, and
connection.

From start to finish, Principal Byrne led with intention, warmth, and professionalism. As a strategic leader and responsible steward of school resources, she ensured the event operated smoothly. Her visible presence throughout the day, attention to detail, and willingness to support both logistical needs and community engagement demonstrated servant leadership at every level.

Most importantly, Principal Byrne helped create a welcoming and well-organized experience that strengthened family engagement and reinforced confidence in the school as a community-centered institution. Her leadership reflects the important role public schools play in bringing families, educators, and communities together in support of children.

The Illinois PTA wishes to extend it's sincere appreciation to Principal Byrne and the entire Thomas Jefferson Middle School team for their partnership and dedication to empowering children to discover their creativity, build confidence, and reach their fullest potential through artistic expression.
