Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Jillian Spellacy, but everyone here at Marion Jordan calls me Nurse Jill.
What is my background?
I attended The University of Connecticut where I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. During my summers, I worked at The Joslin Camp for children with Type 1 Diabetes and served as the Education Coordinator my last summer there. After graduation, I worked in a hospital setting for about 12 years, specializing in Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Women’s Health/Surgical.
Why did I choose to be a School Nurse? And why District 15?
As my children got older and into school, I knew I wanted to be on their schedule. I was a little scared that I would miss “hospital” nursing, but boy was I wrong! I LOVE being in the school setting! Seeing the kids every day and getting to know them is so wonderful. I enjoy walking in the halls, popping into classrooms, and providing care when needed. My family is a District 15 family and I knew I wanted to work here and be a part of the community that I live in.
What do I do when I am not here?
I am a busy Mom of 3 kids, 2 dogs and 1 Guinea Pig! Our whole family is active in many sports here in Palatine. I coach my twin girls in basketball and softball. When we are not on the field or court, we can be found cheering on Big Brother and their Dad, who coaches football and baseball. As a family we love taking Disney vacations, trying new kinds of food (My kids love curry!), and hanging out with family.
