An update from
Community Consolidated
School District 15

February 19, 2018

school_bus.jpg A MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS DR. SCOTT THOMPSON

Dear District 15 Community:

The recent school tragedy in Parkland, Florida profoundly impacted the entire country, including us here in District 15. When unthinkable situations like this occur, it prompts communities across America to question if students and staff are safe in their schools.

District 15 keeps school safety as its number one priority. Our school safety committee, including local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency management personnel, community members and staff, meets regularly to evaluate and improve safety protocols implemented in our schools. The safety plans created for each of our schools are model plans used by many other school districts. Students and staff members regularly practice the emergency procedures in these plans. And we also place a high priority on prevention measures and the regular review of these plans.

Our schools are the safest place for the children in our community. Through the combined efforts of everyone in the community, we will work to make them even safer in the future.

As we start a new week, we will continue to keep those impacted by the Parkland tragedy in our thoughts. But be assured, we have taken steps to keep our children safe when they enter the school doors.

Thank you for your support,

Scott B. Thompson

School lunch
HOW ARE WE DOING? TAKE SCHOOL LUNCH SURVEY

The District 15 Nutrition Services Team prepares thousands of meals for students each day. In an effort to provide the lunch choices students and families most prefer, we'd like your opinion on the school lunch program.

Please take this brief, five-minute parent survey to indicate the choices you enjoy, what you'd rather not see on the menu, and any new selections you would like to see served.

The school lunch survey for parents is available in the following languages:

English

We appreciate your input by Feb. 28. Junior high students and those in the upper elementary grade levels will take the survey in class before the end of the month.
