Girls Basketball 2019
The Sandburg Wildcats basketball team improved a lot over the season. Our team is composed of only 10 eighth grade girls. We participated in one tournament and played a total of eleven games. The team really increased its knowledge about basketball. We played against a lot of tough opponents. Even when we played against teams who had more experience than us, we always stuck with them and gave it our all. Coach Tixier could not be prouder of the effort we put into each game. Our enthusiasm was relentless throughout the season. We worked a lot on shooting this year and made some big improvements. Overall, we had a lot of fun and made worked really hard this season.
It was a fun year had by all. We saw progress made each and everyday. Overall, the group was a very nice group to work with. Regardless of record, the girls played hard and gave it their all on the court. The team played against some solid competition and the teams had much more playing experience. The highlight of the season came in the finale when they beat Winston 20-12. They ended up taking third in the D15 Tournament. It was a nice ending to a fun year.
The season begins in August and runs until mid-October. There are girls’ basketball teams for both seventh and eighth grades. Tryouts are held in mid-August. Twelve to 15 girls are chosen for each team. Both teams participate in a District tournament in October.
