Information about me
My name is Karen Zielinski and I have been teaching in District 15 since 1989. Since I am fluent in Spanish, I began in the bilingual program and eventually transitioned to the mainstream classroom. Fortunately, my teaching career has always been here at Central Road. I have taught third, fourth, fifth, 5/6 multiage and sixth grades. I have been teaching sixth grade for the majority of my career. This year I am happy for the challenge of teaching fourth grade.
I have been married for over twenty -five years to my high school sweetheart, who teaches social science at our alma mater, Maine East High School. My husband and I have two daughters: a bright and feisty middle schooler who loves Legos and Minecraft and a video game-loving newlywed. Our family would not be complete without, Stormy, who is a Havanese mix, adopted from Almost Home and my Betta Fish, Jim. Jim the Fish.
I attended Concordia University in River Forest, IL for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as the Educational Leadership program.
I love all things Geek! At our house we watch all things StarWars, Dr. Who. and superhero shows! I love Legos, Wizard of Oz, and Kid President on you tube! My hobbies include home repair by neccesity, reading by choice, traveling for adventure, and exercising for stress relief.
