    As a result of our successful Moving 15 Forward Referendum, District 15 will offer Full-Day Kindergarten beginning in the 2024-2025 school year!

    What does that mean for students?

    • More time to build positive self-esteem, independence, friendships, and trusting relationships with teachers
    • More time in individualized instruction to build strong foundational skills
    • More time for Math and Literacy instruction
    • Expanded content area learning
    • More time in Physical Education and the Arts
    • More time for free and purposeful play
    • More time in developmentally appropriate activities designed to keep our students active, engaged, and growing


    What will full-day kindergarten look like? 

    • Beginning the day with a focus on social-emotional learning and community-building
    • An extended block for foundational literacy skills and instruction, including phonics, phonemic awareness, word study, writing, and reading comprehension
    • An extended Math block to support differentiated learning through direct instruction and games
    • Expanded participation in Physical Education, Art, and Music
    • Time to form deep relationships with peers and teachers, including friendship-building through lunch and recess
    • Dedicated time for free and purposeful play
    • Expanded content area learning in Social Studies, Science, and Health that is active and engaging

    Kindergarten Registration begins January 30, 2024, and runs through July 1, 2024.

    It is very important for families to register as early as possible. The district uses our enrollment numbers to determine staffing at each of our schools. 


    Kindergarten Kick-Off Event

    February 15, 2024—District 15 will offer a Kindergarten Kick-off Parent Information Night (English) | (Spanish) at each of our schools on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. (excludes Winston Campus Elementary, which will become a Dual-Language only school in 2024-25, and Thomas Jefferson, which will become a Middle School in 2024-25) 

     


    Two-Way Spanish Dual Language Program

    Parents have the option to enroll their incoming kindergarten student in the Two-Way Spanish Dual Language Program, which is housed at three schools—Jane Addams, Winston Campus, and Kimball Hill. To learn more about the program, parents are encouraged to attend one of the Dual Language Parent Information Nights scheduled for:

    • February 1, 2024 - Spanish Dual-Language Parent Information Night at Jane Addams Elementary, 1020 E. Sayles Drive, Palatine
      • 6:30-7:30 p.m. (English)
      • 7:30-8:30 p.m. (Spanish)

    • February 8, 2024 - Spanish Dual-Language Parent Information Night at Winston Campus Elementary, 900 E. Palatine Road, Palatine
      • 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Spanish)
      • 7:30-8:30 p.m. (English)

    • February 13, 2024 - Spanish Dual-Language Parent Information Night at Kimball Hill Elementary, 2905 Meadows Drive, Rolling Meadows
      • 5:30-6:30 p.m. (English)
      • 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Spanish)
