Below you will find the various committees that the PAddock PTA currently has as well as descriptions of what each committee does. Each committee is led by a Paddock PTA member or co-led by two PTA members.

After School Coordinator (Tae Kwon Do, Snapology, etc) | This committee chair coordinates after school activities like Tae Kwon Do and STEAM classes. |
Back to School Picnic | Coordinate and organize food and other activities (Kona ice, dunk tank, pie face, etc) for the back to school picnic. |
Bike to School Day | Coordinates activities for bike to school day. |
Bilingual Liaison | This committee chairperson serves as liaison with Spanish-speaking population at Stuart R Paddock School and promotes inclusion of our diverse communities at school events. Provides translation support as needed. |
Book Club - 2nd grade | This committee will lead book discussions during a 7 week period for one hour a week during the school day. Book club takes place in the Winter. |
Book Club - 3rd grade | This committee will lead book discussions during a 7 week period for one hour a week during the school day. Book club takes place in the Winter. |
Book Club - 4th grade | This committee will lead book discussions during a 7 week period for one hour a week during the school day. Book club takes place in the Winter. |
Book Club - 5th grade | This committee will lead book discussions during a 7 week period for one hour a week during the school day. Book club takes place in the Winter. |
Book Club - 6th grade | This committee will lead book discussions during a 7 week period for one hour a week during the school day. Book club takes place in the Winter. |
Book Fair | Supports the book fair by providing a book fair assistant and volunteers to help set up, clean up and staff the book fair during the hours it is open. The Chairperson will work closely with the Resource Center Director to assist with all aspects of the sale. |
Book Vending Machine | Purchase and load books into the vending machine on a regular basis throughout the school year. |
Box Tops | This committee chairperson will work with the Principal to organize the Box Tops collection program. All funds collected from this program will be used by the teachers to purchase supplies for the classroom. |
Community Cares/Winter Wishes | This committee chairperson will help coordinate volunteers to assist other families at Paddock that may need assistance. They also may organize a school service opportunity, organize a coat and/or Halloween costume collection, assist with PTA coat closet. |
Electronic Communication - Facebook | This committee chairperson is responsible for managing the Facebook page to help promote PTA events and information. |
Electronic Communication - Virtual Backpack | This committee chairperson is responsible for the weekly virtual newsletter showcasing PTA activities and upcoming events. |
Family Reading Night | This committee chairperson is responsible for planning and hosting a family fun evening that helps encourage the joy of reading. The evening may include: guest speakers, games/activities and concessions. |
Health & Wellness | This committee chairperson promotes health and fitness by organizing Field Day. |
Holiday Shop | This committee chair coordinates the annual Holiday Shop in December. This event is a fun shopping experience for students to purchase holiday gifts for their friends and family. |
Kindergarten Playdate & Orientation | This committee chair assists at Orientation in May and plans a playdate for incoming kindergarteners before school begins. |
Movie Night | This committee coordinates an all-school movie night typically held in January. |
Multicultural Week | This committee chair organizes Multicultural Night typically held in December. |
New Family Liaison | This committee chair assists new families assimilate into Paddock. |
Panther Fest | Panther Fest is Paddock’s family fun fair. The event boasts games, activities and fun for the whole family. A planning committee and a large number of event volunteers are needed to make this event run smoothly. |
Reflections | Reflections is a national program that encourages students from all grades to express themselves through visual art, photography, music and literature. Help to distribute entry forms & official program rules, collect submissions & have them judged to select those that move on to more advanced levels and publicly recognize all participants as well as display selected projects at at our school & at the Reflections annual showcase. Assist in generating letters and certificates of achievement. |
Room Parent Coordinator | This committee chairperson is responsible for coordinating room parent volunteers among all classes. They will host a meeting for all room parents at the beginning of the school year so teachers and room parents can discuss plans for Halloween and Valentine's Day parties, and other room parent responsibilities (such as collecting donations for parties). A PTA room parent representative must also be a PTA member. |
School Pride Decorating | The committee chairperson is responsible for decorating the school seasonally. He/she is also responsible for maintaining the outdoor entry area and planters. The committee chairperson is responsible for maintaining the PTA bulletin board in the main hallway of school. It is to be used to publicize upcoming events and promote the PTA. The committee chair should work with decorating committee to coordinate themes. |
School Supply Kits | This committee chairperson will work with the school supply kit company to prepare sales sheets, collect orders and distribute kits to families that order kits. This job can mainly be done from home or with committee assistance. Most of the job takes place in the spring with the sale of kits and then the distribution of kits takes place in August of the new school year. |
Six Flags Reading Program | This committee chairperson will organize and coordinate the reading incentive program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Park. Each child receives a reading log and must return it by a certain date to receive a free ticket to Six Flags. The coordinator copies, distributes and collects incentive forms and submits them for free tickets, which again, the coordinator will distribute. This position can be done mainly from home and takes place in January/February with ticket distribution in the late spring. |
Fifth Grade Activities | To help celebrate the graduation of our 5th grade students to junior high, the PTA sponsors year-end activities for the 5th grade class which are decided upon and organized by a group of 5th grade parents. In the past, activities have included bowling, a picnic and a breakfast. |
Sixth Grade Activities | To help celebrate the ‘graduation of our 6th grade students to junior high’ , the PTA sponsors year-end activities for the 6th grade class, which are decided upon and organized by a group of 6th grade parents. In the past, activities have included bowling, a picnic and a breakfast. |
Spark Liaison | Communicate monthly Spark meetings (Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge) set by District 15 to the Facebook and Virtual Backpack chairs to notify Paddock parents of the topics covered as well as the dates and time of meetings. |
Spirit Wear | This committee maintains inventory of Paddock Spirit Wear and also sells items at school events. This includes determining new items that might be offered for sale each year. |
STEAM Fair | This committee plans the STEAM Fair by inviting area businesses, organizations, teachers and parents to provide hands-on STEAM activities and participate in the event typically held in April. The purpose of the event is to raise student awareness of and interest in science, technology, engineering, art and math. |
Summer Playdates | Coordinates summer playdates on the Paddock Playground (1 in June, 1 in July) to allow students to play and connect with each other as well as help drive membership and bring awareness to the PTA. |
Teacher Appreciation | Help to plan and organize Paddock’s Teacher Appreciation Week in May. |
High School Student Volunteer Liaison | Secure high school or junior high student volunteers for larger events, such as the Back to School Picnic and Panther Fest. Coordinate with the Picnic and Panther Fest committee chairs about the number of volunteers needed. Sign volunteer sheets for students seeking volunteer hours. |
Website | The website chairperson is responsible for posting online content for the Paddock PTA website and maintaining it throughout the year. |
Yearbook | This committee chairperson is responsible for taking photographs at school events and for working closely with an outside vendor to create and distribute the annual Stuart R. Paddock yearbook. Volunteer photographers are still needed to take photos at school events, and to help the professional photographer organize kids on student picture day. The chairperson is responsible for laying out the yearbook and meeting deadlines with the contracted year book company. |
Donuts with Grownups | Plan a morning school day event for Paddock families to attend and order donuts for everyone. |
School Assembly Lead | Schedule all-school assemblies that reinforce educational or behavioral goals of Paddock School. Coordinate with the principal and teacher liaisons to ensure the assemblies are grade-level appropriate for grades 1-6. Be present at Paddock School the day of the assemblies to direct the presenters. |
Field Day PTA Lead | Work with the PE teacher to plan engaging Field Day activities. Create and send the volunteer sign-up to the Facebook and Virtual Backpack chairs to secure volunteers to run the Field Day stations. |
