Hunting Ridge Elementary School
Hunting Ridge is a school that fosters a child-centered environment where teachers are the facilitators of the learning process. We believe that we can develop world-class learners by providing a framework that includes opportunities for our students to advance and flourish in their independence. In an age where children must take ownership in their learning and apply their learning to life's experiences, we must educate through a variety of strategies and a philosophy that empowers our students to strive for excellence.

Welcome to Hunting Ridge Elementary School!
-
Thank you for your interest in Hunting Ridge School, home of the Hawks!
Approximately 700 students of diverse backgrounds and cultures attend our Blue Ribbon School, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Our school includes children in kindergarten through sixth grade and proudly houses the District’s transitional kindergarten program as well as gifted classrooms for students in Grades 3-6.
Thank you for entrusting your children to our care as we march down a path of academic, social and overall health and well-being. The staff at Hunting Ridge is committed to providing a world-class educational experience where your children will receive high-quality instruction in a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment. Hunting Ridge prides itself on being child-centered; teachers actively engage students to connect with the world around them. I am very fortunate to work with such a talented and dedicated staff.
Parent participation, support, and encouragement lead to student success. We see our parents as partners. Parent involvement is all about the children and making sure they receive the quality education they deserve. Our school cannot provide your child a complete education without your help. Our partnership is vital to a successful educational experience.
As part of our mission, we believe that we can develop world-class learners by providing a framework that includes opportunities for our students to advance and flourish in their independence. We live in an age where children are being asked to model their learning in new ways. They are expected to apply skills to unique life experiences. At Hunting Ridge, we believe that it is our responsibility to educate students utilizing a variety of innovative teaching strategies and philosophies in a way that empowers them to take on life’s challenges while striving for excellence.
Creating a caring, safe and respectful learning environment is of utmost important to us. We follow the Hawk Habits of respecting one another by being helpful and using kind words. We believe in and follow the words of our “Hawk Pledge”:
“I promise to follow the Hawk Habits of being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe! My words and actions will be kind, positive, and encouraging throughout the day at Hunting Ridge School. Go Team Hawks!”
The staff of Hunting Ridge believes in using a positive approach in helping students learn to internalize and appreciate these important life values.
We warmly welcome parents to volunteer at school and be a part of their child's education. We also encourage parents to join our very active and involved PTA, which provides programs for our students, as well as parents, and activities for families such as our Hawk Hustle 3K, Hoop Fest, family picnic and many more! The home-school connection is very evident at Hunting Ridge, and we are fortunate to have involved parents.
We are proud of our students, our staff and our school. If you would like more information about Hunting Ridge or would be interested in visiting our school, please call us at 847-963-5300, or e-mail me at ortlundc@ccsd15.net.
