Arrival/Departure Procedures
As we continue to provide a safe environment for our students, please note the procedures for pick-up and drop-off at Pleasant Hill School. It is important to read the procedures carefully and stay alert when entering a school zone. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO VILLAGE STREET SIGNS. Left turns into the parking lot from southbound Cedar and Left turns from Michigan onto northbound Cedar are prohibited during drop-off and pick-up.
Please remember:
- No vehicles may be left unattended unless in a designated parking space in the parking lot.
- Morning drop off:
- Drivers should follow the single-file line of cars in the parking lot’s designated “drop-off lane” and not pass other vehicles. Please pull all the way up to the last supervisor on duty. The lane begins as you pull into the back lot off of Cedar Street. All areas marked with yellow diagonal lines, labeled NO PARKING are to be used for students to walk on after exiting the car in the drop off lane. Drives must remain in their cars and students must exit the passenger side of all vehicles in the “drop-off zone.”
- If you need to walk your child to their door, a new crosswalk has been created from the parking lot toward the school. Anyone walking within the parking lot should utilize the new crosswalk that will lead from the parking spaces to the school. Students should not be left to walk without an adult, through the parking lot.
- Afternoon pick up:
- The yellow no parking lanes will be open for pick-up only. Cars are to wait in these lanes as students will come to your passenger side door for entry.
- The center lane will be used for cars to pull out into for exiting out of the parking lot. The center lane will not be used for any parking or idle cars.
Try These Easy Options to Avoid the Parking Lot
- For a quick drop and go experience. Use the indented spaces along Cedar.
- Park at Birchwoodfor a fast and convenient way to pick up and drop off. The friendly crossing guard will ensure the safety of all students crossing Illinois.
- Some parents drop their students off at the beginning of the path on Bennet Ave. and their students walk down the path to school.
- Coordinate with neighbors and create a carpool schedule.
- Walking to and from school is a GREAT time for those who live close to “rev-up for learning and decompress from a full day of school, even if it is sprinkling or snowing.” Families should discuss where and when to cross streets though. All students should be crossing at intersections with stop signs. Please have a plan and walk it with your child beforehand.
As you know, the intentions of these procedures are to ensure the continued safety of our students. Please adhere to these existing laws and policies:
- Cell phone use in a school zone is prohibited by law and will be enforced by the Palatine Police.
- No pets are allowed on school property during school hours, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Smoking on school grounds is prohibited by CCSD15 policy.
It is a State Law that you must stop for pedestrians in or entering a crosswalk even if there is no crossing guard. This includes the crosswalks in the parking lot and on Cedar and Bennet.
- No vehicles may be left unattended unless in a designated parking space in the parking lot.

Health Forms
For the purpose of safeguarding the health of children, District 15 enforces Illinois student health requirements. These requirements consist of health, dental, and eye exams and immunizations specific to grade and age.
Health exams are required for students entering preschool, kindergarten, sixth grade, and those who are new to the school. The Certificate of Child Health Examination form is available online and in the school office.
The exam form, completed and signed by a licensed healthcare provider, must be dated within one year prior to the first day of school and must include lead screening for children who are six years or younger and diabetes screening.
Health forms can be brought to the school office at any time.
On October 15, students who have not provided a health exam or required immunizations will be excluded from school. Students new to Illinois schools, who register midterm, have 30 days following registration to comply with the health requirements.
For more information on specific health forms needed, visit the Health Services website.

About the Pleasant Hill PTA
PTA President - Brian Brown
PTA Co-President - Shalvi Patel
The Pleasant Hill PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a group of parents/guardians and staff which collaborate to develop programs and activities for the students and families of Pleasant Hill school. Building these relationships help further enhance our students' experience at our school. The PTA is wonderful way to get involved with the school and to give back to the school that gives our children so much. The PTA website can be accessed at phpta.org.
The PTA Executive Board consists of elected PTA members and school representatives. Executive Board PTA members are nominated by a nominating committee, are voted into office by the General Membership, and serve a 2 year term. The Executive Board and chairpersons of the PTA Committees are expected to attend PTA Board meetings, which are also open to the General Membership.
PTA Committee Chairs work with a team to coordinate & manage various PTA events & services. This is a great way to get connected with other parents and provide some much needed help to the school. Contact one of the PTA Co-Presidents if you are interested in chairing an event/service.
<>The PTA is run by volunteers. You can help on an on-going basis with a committee, serving on the executive board and/or working for one of the special events. Opportunities are available for both during the day and in the evening. No matter your interest or schedule — there is something for everyone.
Connect with Facebook. Ask a question. See what others are saying. Let's build our Pleasant Hill PTA community.
