Rebecca Wight, an eighth-grade student at Plum Grove Junior High School, won the District 15 spelling bee on February 19 as well as the Suburban Cook Northern Area Spelling Bee held on February 21. Rebecca will advance to the ComEd Regional Spelling Bee for Cook County, scheduled for February 28.
Kevin Krout, a seventh grader at Carl Sandburg Junior High School, was runner-up in the District 15 competition. Winners of school bees at 17 District 15 elementary and junior high schools participated in the district bee.
