“Advocating for Your Child” Topic for SPARK Meeting
“Advocating for Your Child” is the topic a meeting of SPARK (Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge) at 7 p.m. September 25 at Plum Grove Junior High School, 2600 Plum Grove Rd., Rolling Meadows. The meeting is open to all parents of District 15 students.
The September program will be presented by PIFFA (Pay It Forward for Autism), a non-profit group whose mission is to educate families, schools, and the community. The presentation, based on training from the Family Resource Center of Chicago, will focus on how to advocate effectively for a child and how to teach typical students about children with special needs.
SPARK, a Northwest Suburban Council of PTSA committee, serves families of children with special needs in District 15. The group’s purpose is to educate parents, provide resources, network and support for families of all children receiving special education services.
