Conyers Learning Academy Plans Computer Recycling Event May 10-11, 2007

April 16, 2007

John G. Conyers Learning Academy (CLA) will be collecting used computer and medical equipment in the school’s fourth annual ATEN (Assistive Technology Exchange Network) computer recycling event, scheduled forThursday and Friday, May 10-11, 2007, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 2800 Central Rd., Rolling Meadows.

ATEN is a program of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago. Its mission is to increase access to computers and assistive technology for students with disabilities throughout Illinois. ATEN is also collecting durable medical equipment to benefit children and adults with permanent or temporary disabilities through the recycling of unused medical equipment. CLA’s three previous drives yielded roughly 40 tons of computer-related equipment that were recycled to benefit students with disabilities and protect the environment from potentially harmful waste. This year’s goal is to collect more than 15 tons of equipment.

The event offers three tax deductible ways to participate: Donate used computer equipment, donate used medical equipment, or make a financial contribution. Checks should be payable to: Assistive Technology Exchange Network, 7550 W. 183rd St., Tinley Park, IL 60477 (or drop off checks at CLA May 10-11 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.)
