Board of Education Approves New Times for District 15 Schools

February 28, 2007

A new schedule of school start/dismissal times was approved by the Board of Education on February 28, to be implemented in the 2007-08 school year. The new times will allow for a two-tier busing system designed to make more efficient use of the district’s 138-vehicle bus fleet. (Currently the district operates a four-tier bus system.)

Tier 1 schools will begin at 7:55 a.m. and dismiss at 2:25 p.m. They are: Jane Addams, Thomas Jefferson, Stuart R. Paddock, Willow Bend and Winston Campus-Elementary schools, and the district’s four junior highs: Plum Grove, Carl Sandburg, Walter R. Sundling, and Winston Campus-Junior High.

Tier 2 schools will start the school day at 8:45 a.m. and dismiss at 3:15 p.m. They are: Central Road, Kimball Hill, Hunting Ridge, Marion Jordan, Lake Louise, Lincoln, Pleasant Hill, Gray M. Sanborn, Virginia Lake, Frank C. Whiteley, Conyers Learning Academy, and the Early Childhood Program.

Work is now under way on development of a bus route schedule for presentation to the Board of Education in April.
