District 15 Appoints New Administrators
Community Consolidated School District 15 has named an interim leadership team for Walter R. Sundling Junior High School, several new assistant principals for the 2006-07 school year and a leadership team for the district’s transportation department.
David Corbett, a long-time District 15 principal, will serve as part of an interim leadership team at Walter R. Sundling Junior High. He will be teamed with another experienced administrator yet to be announced. Former principal Craig Winkelman resigned in May, which left the district little time to recruit and hire a new principal in time for the start of the 2006-07 school year.
Corbett retired at the end of the 2003-04 school year after a career of teaching and serving as principal at several District 15 schools, most recently at Hunting Ridge. For the last year, he has served as interim director of administrative services in the superintendent’s office, handling a variety of responsibilities.
New assistant principals announced are:
John Gibbas, who will be half-time at Hunting Ridge and Thomas Jefferson schools. Gibbas, a former teacher and building assistant in District 15, has been principal of Prairie Grove School in Prairie Grove, Ill., the past school year.
Paul E. Goldberg, Winston Campus Junior High School. Gold berg has most recently been a classroom teacher at Clarence E. Culver School, in Niles District 71.
Paul D. Houser, Carl Sandburg Junior High School. Houser comes to District 15 from Blackhawk Middle School in District 2, Bensenville, where he was assistant principal.
Mary Beth Knoeppel, assistant principal at Lincoln School. She was previously half-time assistant principal at Lincoln and half-time at Hunting Ridge School.
Jeannette Sander, Lake Louise School. Sander was previously assistant principal at Kimball Hill School.
Scott Scafidi, who will be half-time at Pleasant Hill and Winston Campus Elementary schools. Scafidi was previously a teacher at MacArthur Middle School, School District 23, Prospect Heights.
The district has also announced a shared leadership team to head the transportation department. Bob Anderson, a former District 15 administrator who has been serving as acting transportation director for the past several months, will team with Don Skinner, a District 211 retiree, to provide leadership for the district’s transportation services.
