District 15 Names Executive Director of Administrative Services
James E. Garwood has been named director of administrative services for Community Consolidated School District 15. The appointment was approved by the District 15 Board of Education at the board’s June 14 meeting, effective at the beginning of the 2006-07 school year.
Since 2001, Garwood has been principal of Orchard Place School in Community Consolidated School District 62, Des Plaines. Prior to that, he held a number of positions in District 15. In 2000-01, he was assistant principal at Lincoln Elementary and Plum Grove Junior High schools, from 1998-2000 he was a building assistant at Lake Louise School, and from 1995-98, he was a fifth-sixth multiage bilingual teacher at Central Road School. He has also taught in School District 99, Cicero, and worked in the restaurant industry, including serving as executive chef for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
Garwood holds a bachelor’s degree in German language and literature from University of Illinois at Chicago, a masters in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in English as a second language and bilingual education from National-Louis University, and a Type 75 administrative certificate from National-Louis University.
