District 15 Names New Administrators

New principals have been named for two District 15 schools, along with one new assistant principal. In addition, a current principal has been selected to fill an open administrative position. The appointments, approved by the Board of Education at its April 5 meeting, will be effective July 1.

Faith Rivera, currently assistant principal at Winston Campus-Junior High, will become principal of Virginia Lake School. Rivera has been with District 15 since the beginning of the 2004-05 school year, when she served as building assistant at Stuart R. Paddock School. She previously taught fifth, sixth, and seventh grades in the Chicago Public Schools and worked for Household International. She holds a B.A. in criminal justice with a minor in Spanish from Northeastern Illinois University and a master’s of art in teaching as well as a master’s in administration, both from Dominican University, where she is an adjunct professor.

Dr. Ken Rose will be principal of Central Road School. He is currently principal of Avon Center School, a kindergarten- through fifth-grade school in CCSD 46, Round Lake Beach. Dr. Rose served as principal of Cornerstone Christian School in South Chicago Heights for 13 years, during which he also served as a coach and athletic director. Previously he taught seventh- and eighth-grade classes. He holds a B.A. in physical education from the University of Northern Iowa, a master’s of arts in educational administration from Governor’s State University, a doctorate in educational administration from Northern Illinois University, and he earned endorsement as a chief school business official by completing a school business management course at Northern Illinois University.

Yvette Davidson is the new assistant principal of Walter R. Sundling Junior High School. She comes to District 15 from Community Unit School District 220, Barrington, where she has been a teacher at Barrington Middle School, Prairie Campus, since 2003. She previously taught at Haines Middle School, Community United School District 303, St. Charles. She holds a B.S. in education from Illinois State University, an M.S. in education from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership administration and supervision from National-Louis University.

Mary Zarr, currently principal of Kimball Hill School since the beginning of the 2004-05 school year, has been named executive director for administrative services in the superintendent’s office. Previously, she was elementary curriculum coordinator and K-8 summer school principal in Community Unit School District, Lake Zurich. She held other administrative positions in District 95, where she also taught elementary classes for a number of years. Zarr holds a B.A. from Millikin University in Decatur with majors in elementary education and physical education, a M.S. in teaching from Webster College in St. Louis, Mo., and an administrative certification from Governor’s State University, as well as an additional 60 hours of post-graduate work.
