Plum Grove Cheerleading, Dance Squads Compete

The Plum Grove Spirit Dance Squad, composed of seventh- and eighth-grade students from the District 15 junior high, placed first in the “pom” category and third in the “kick” category at the state competition of the Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA) held in Bloomington Feb. 26.

Competing for the first time this year, the Plum Grove Spirit Squad qualified for the state competition by placing first in the “kick” category at regional competitions in Elk Grove Village, at Navy Pier, and in Palatine, and second in the “pom” category.

Also competing for the first time this year, Plum Grove’s cheerleading squad placed third in the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICAA) regional competition Feb. 12 at St. Charles North High School. The school’s seventh- and eighth-grade squads combine into a single large squad for competitions.

Both the dance squad and the cheerleading squads are coached by teacher Linda Fehlberg.
