Marion Jordan Student Wins District 15 Spelling Bee
Marion Jordan sixth-grader Aamani Paturi was the winner of the 2006 District 15 Spelling Bee, correctly spelling “bureaucracy” to edge out the second-place competitor, Jeanne Kaliski, a sixth-grader from Gray M. Sanborn School. Winners of spelling bees held in 18 District 15 elementary and junior high schools competed in the February 1 district meet.
Aamani is a two-time District 15 spelling champion, having also won the district bee in 2004 as well as the regional competition, the North Cook 2004 Suburban Cook County Spelling Bee. As winner of the District 15 competition, she will represent District 15 in the north suburban Cook County final in late February. The winner of that round will compete with winners of the central and south suburban Cook County finals in the 2006 Chicagoland Spelling Bee Suburban Final on March 29 at the College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn.
