Pleasant Hill Make a Difference Club to Assist Soldier’s Family
The Make a Difference Club of Pleasant Hill School in Palatine raised $2,682 for the family of a soldier killed in Iraq.
Army Pfc. Christopher Alcozer was killed November 19 while on duty in Iraq, then just five weeks after his death, his family was left homeless when a fire destroyed their home in Elmhurst. Although all family members escaped without injury, they lost all their belongings.
Student members of the Make a Difference Club volunteered during the school’s “Fun Fair” on January 27. Area merchants contributed items for theme baskets, which the students raffled off. The money raised will be donated to a fund set up at the Community Bank of Elmhurst to assist the Alcozer family.
