PTA Announces Healthy Kids Fair on February 4

Illinois PTA District 37 in partnership with Health World Children’s Museum in Barrington, proudly announces the first Healthy Kids Fair. This exciting community event will offer the children of the northwest suburban area the opportunity to learn the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. The Fair will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at the museum, which is located at 1301 S. Grove Avenue, Barrington, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission for PTA members is $5 per person with Membership Card and $7 per person for all others.

The Healthy Kids Fair will feature age-specific classes and programs on general health, nutrition, and life skills. There will be a special hour-long program, a Round Table Discussion for parents on bullying, beginning at 11 a.m. Facilitating this discussion will be Dr. Joe Novak, the Director of Behavioral Health Programs and the Head of the Mental Health Network for Northwest Community Hospital.

Also on the schedule are special programs for Dental Health Week including the Northwest Community Hospital Mobile Dental Health Unit; a Fitness Zone exercise program; and interactive programs promoting respect, diversity, inclusion, and tolerance of others sponsored by the Allstate Foundation. Train Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid Demonstrations, and the new Food Pyramid will also be highlighted. The Midwest Dairy Council will be on-site to educate families on the importance of 3-a-Day of Dairy. Canine Companions, dogs that are used to assist the disabled, will make an appearance. In addition to these programs access to all regular exhibits and programs in the museum is included with your admission.
