Central Road School Receives EPA Grant
Central Road School has received a grant from the Lake Education Assistance Program (LEAP) as a part of an education initiative offered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. This marks the fourth consecutive year Central Road’s second-grade teachers have applied for and received the LEAP grant.
Grant funds will be used for a field trip for all second-grade students at Central Road to a pond and watershed area. Students will conduct a scientific inquiry to discover the complexity of plant and animal life. Activities will include obtaining samples from the pond and identifying various micro-organisms and plants using field guides, nets, and microscopes. Project goals are aligned with Illinois State Goals and Standards and related directly to District 15 Learner Statements.
