Communicating with Kids Topic of PTA Session
“Talking It Out: How to Have Great Communication with Your Kids without Losing Your Hair or Your Mind” will be presented by nationally known speaker, educator, and author Michael Brandwein at 7 p.m. February 28, at Carl Sandburg Junior High School, 2600 Martin Lane, Rolling Meadows.
Brandwein’s presentation is sponsored by the Northwest Suburban Council of PTA. The evening begins with a “Reflections” showcase, featuring work by District 15 students, at 6 p.m., followed by a brief general membership meeting of the Northwest Suburban Council at 6:45 p.m.
Brandwein will offer specific suggestions for parents to improve family communication and help young people from pre-school to high school develop greater responsibility, solve problems by talking things out, and communicate feelings respectfully and effectively.
A frequent keynoter and workshop leader for national organizations that serve families and youth, Brandwein has made presentations for parents, teachers, youth professionals, and others in all 50 states and on six continents. He wrote and pesented “Parenting Puzzle,” a series of Emmy award-winning television programs on communicating with children that were broadcast on PBS stations across the U.S. in 1999. He also is the author of three best-selling books on training youth leaders and has served as a national training consultant for the National PTA.
