Central Road Players Present Honk! Jr.
The Central Road Players of Central Road School, Rolling Meadows, will present the play Honk! Jr. at 7:30 p.m. February 25, and 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. February 26, at the Conyers Learning Academy auditorium, 2800 W. Central Road, Rolling Meadows. The play, sponsored by the Central Road PTA , is open to the public, and no advance tickets are required.
Honk! Jr. is a contemporary musical retelling of the Ugly Duckling story, a fun-filled adventure about discovering the joys of being different. Honk! Jr. was developed especially for student performances and is based on the award-winning Broadway production of Honk!
This year's musical features 52 kindergarten through sixth-grade students. The play is an all-volunteer effort, with parents coordinating everything from set design, costuming and prop management to choreography, makeup and promotion.
This is the sixth annual play performed by the Central Road Players acting troupe, directed by Debby and Mickey Volpe. The Volpes founded the troupe in 1999 to give Central Road students an opportunity to learn real theater in a fun, familiar environment. Although they no longer have students at Central Road, at the request of the PTA, the Volpes return every year to put on a quality show.
