Sundling Jazz Band Wins Jazz Competition
The Jazz Band from Walter R. Sundling Junior High School earned a first place award and a “superior” rating at the 28th Annual Northshore Jazz Festival on January 22. Matt Myers, eighth-grade alto saxophone player, also received the “outstanding soloist” award.
Sundling’s Jazz Band is directed by Jeff Zilke. The win marks the first time in more than 15 years that a District 15 jazz band has won this competition.
