Department of Education Regional Representative to Visit District 15
Kristine Cohn, newly appointed regional representative to U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige, will visit Baldrige award-winning Community Consolidated School District 15 on Monday, May 24.
Cohn, who represents Paige in the U.S. Department of Education’s Region V (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin) will meet with District 15 Superintendent Robert A. McKanna at 9:00 a.m. at the Educational Service Center, 580 N. First Bank Dr., Palatine.
From 9:45 to 11:00 a.m., she will tour Lake Louise School, 500 N. Jonathan Dr., Palatine, visiting classrooms and observing students and teachers applying quality tools to problem solving and decision making. The application of quality tools, both in the classroom and in operational settings, was one of the components that contributed to the district’s being selected as a 2003 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award winner.
Prior to being appointed as the secretary’s regional representative, Cohn was in her second four-year term as chairman of the Winnebago County Board. She also served as president of the Winnebago County Forest Preserve, Winnebago county clerk, and commissioner of the Rockford Park District. She is a resident of Rockford.
