A team of 24 fifth- and sixth-grade students from Hunting Ridge Elementary School earned first place in the state of Illinois in the Knowledge Master Open academic competition. The team also finished sixth in the world out of a competitive field of 423 schools.

A team from Marion Jordan School finished second in the state and earned a ranking of 13th in the world.
