Lake Louise Teacher Visits Japanese School
Robin Kopecky, fifth-grade teacher at Lake Louise School, recently visited Sendagaya Elementary School, located in central Tokyo, Japan, where she taught a conversational English class. She brought greetings to the Japanese students from the students in her classroom, including cards and letters they had made.
Sendagaya School includes grades kindergarten through fifth and
has a student population of about 300. She shared and exchanged
ideas with the principal, Mr. Shigekazu Takayama, and teachers.
Kopecky’s visit resulted in a “sister schools” arrangement between Lake Louise and Sendagaya. Her class is putting together a package of American books and souvenirs to send to the Japanese school, and Lake Louise has set up a showcase with materials and books from Sendagaya.
