Plum Grove to Celebrate ‘Kaleidoscope Day’
Students at Plum Grove Junior High School will have the opportunity to celebrate Youth Art Month (March) with a celebration on March 18 called “Kaleidoscope Day: Connecting the Community through the Arts.”
Artists from the community, from Fremd High School, and from among Plum Grove Junior High parents will demonstrate various arts in workshops from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Included will be a workshop in which students can design picture frames for their photos, and sessions featuring elaborate face painting; wood carving; neon signs; clay throwing, pouring and building; printmaking; origami; henna painting; and graphic design.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Paul Merklein will present two performances of “Great Big Faces.” Merklein is a caricature artist, cartoonist and performance artist. He will also conduct two workshops for students.
“Kaleidoscope Day” is an annual celebration at Plum Grove Junior High.
