District 15 Hosts ‘Camp Invention’ in June
District 15 students entering second through sixth grades are eligible to attend “Camp Invention,” a nationally recognized creativity and science camp, set for June 21-25. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily at Frank C. Whiteley School, 4335 Haman Ave., Hoffman Estates.
Early registration is $179 and is due by March 15. From March 15 through May 31, the regular registration cost is $199. Late registration (after June 1) is $209.
Jane Riley, retired District 15 teacher, is the camp director, and teachers from District 15 will lead learning sessions. The camp experience will include: “I Can Invent™,” a chance for kids to take apart old appliances and electrical devices and use the parts to make their own inventions; “Imagination Point: Ride Physics™,” where students will design amusement park rides; “Green Scene™,” where participants will conduct environmental experiments and create an environmentally friendly city; “Amazing Games™” and “Sound Busters™.”
Presenting sponsor for “Camp Invention” is the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This is the second year District 15 has hosted a camp week.
