President Bush to Present Top Quality Award to District 15 and Other 2003 Malcolm Baldrige Winners
President George W. Bush will present the 2003 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's top award for quality and performance excellence, to Community Consolidated School District 15 and other award winners at a ceremony at 9:15 a.m. CST (10:15 a.m. EST), Tuesday, March 9, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Va.
Commerce Secretary Donald Evans and other federal officials also will be on hand for the presentation. Louis A. Sands, president of the District 15 Board of Education, and Dr. Robert A. McKanna, superintendent, will officially accept the award. A group of 50 district representatives, including members of the Board of Education, principals, teachers, staff members, representatives of the communities served by District 15, and one student from each of the district's four junior high schools, will be in the audience during the ceremony. Funding for the trip came from a grant from the Malcolm Baldrige organization.
The presentation will be broadcast live via satellite. District 15 will access this satellite feed, paid for by Boeing Aerospace Support (also a Baldrige winner), to broadcast the ceremony live on Channel 44, the district's internal television channel.
