District Fifteen Educational Foundation Raises $37,000
A benefit event staged by the District 15 Educational Foundation has raised more than $37,000 to benefit students in District 15. The second annual “Hearts of Gold” dinner dance and auction was held on February 7.
The Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established to develop resources to provide advanced educational opportunities which are not available through the traditional tax-based education system. Since its formation in 1989, the foundation has invested more than $1.4 million to support District 15 students.
Activities included both silent and live auctions, featuring items and services donated by area businesses and individuals. Music students from District 15 provided pre-dinner entertainment. More than $6,000 was raised during the “Fund-A-Cause” program which the Foundation plans to use to bring the Megaskills program to district students and parents.
Next year’s event is set for February 5, 2005.
