Thomas Jefferson School to Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday

Students and staff at Thomas Jefferson School, 3805 Winston Dr., Hoffman Estates, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2.

Principal Sean Walsh and assistant principal Alessandra Kennedy will be dressed as “Thing One” and “Thing Two,” and reading specialist Jennifer Reilly as “The Cat in the Hat.” Students are also encouraged to dress as Dr. Seuss characters or to wear wacky “Seussville” clothes.

The entire school will participate in a simultaneous reading of The Cat in the Hat, and students will carry their favorite Dr. Seuss books with them wherever they go that day. When the “magic bell” sounds on the school’s public address system, everyone in the school will stop and read. Five guest readers from Marshall Field will be at the school to read in classrooms and deliver treats. Green eggs and ham will be served for lunch.
