District 15 to Present ‘Young Authors’ Conference
Elementary and junior high students and their parents will participate in District 15’s third annual Young Authors Conference at 6:30 p.m. March 2. The conference will feature the opportunity to visit with published authors, to share examples of their own writing, and to purchase books and have them signed by the authors.
The conference will take place at four locations, the district’s junior high schools:
—Carl Sandburg, 2600 Martin Lane, Rolling Meadows;
—Plum Grove, 2600 Plum Grove Rd., Rolling Meadows;
—Winston Campus, 900 E. Palatine Rd., Palatine; and
—Walter R. Sundling, 1100 N. Smith Rd., Palatine.
Each junior high will host students from its feeder elementary schools along with that school’s own students. All students who attend the District 15 conference will be eligible for a drawing to win a free registration to the Illinois Young Authors Conference.
Among the authors scheduled to attend and the schools where they will be are:
—Robert Burleigh and Debbi Chocolate, Carl Sandburg;
—Lee Sullivan Hill, Harriette Robinet, and Laura Ruby, Walter R. Sundling;
—Janet Reihecky, Barbara Santucci, and Laurie Lawlor, Plum Grove; and
—Marlene Targ Brill, Sharon Darrow, and Charise Harper, Winston Campus.
