Fourth Grader Wins District 15, Regional Spelling Bees

Aamani Paturi, a 9-year-old fourth grader at Marion Jordan School, was the winner of the North Cook 2004 Suburban Cook County Spelling Bee, a regional competition held on Feb. 23. Aamani will now advance to the state contest, scheduled for March 16 at Benedictine College, competing against two other regional winners. The winner of the state competition will compete in the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C.

To win the regional meet, Aamani successfully spelled “accomplice,” “ubiquitous,” and “lackadaisical.”

She qualified to represent District 15 in the regional meet by winning the district spelling bee held Feb. 4.
