January Employee of the Month: Lynn Erdmann, Clerical Assistant, Early Intervention, The Learning Academy
Lynn Erdmann’s willingness to take on whatever task is assigned to her has been especially helpful this year when activities of The Learning Academy are scattered among various sites. Lynn is working this year at the Newcomers’ Center at the Community Church in Rolling Meadows, across the street from Kimball Hill School.
“Lynn has made our temporary place a home that is not only organized and sanitary, but also aesthetically pleasing to our parents, staff, and young children,” her nominator noted. “She has many talents—from painting cabinets to making marker boards for our children who need pictures to communicate. She is always initiating new ways to help our program run smoother and never needs to be asked more than once to take care of a task. Lynn is always prompt and willing to help even after her normal working hours. We are grateful Lynn was able to help us out during this transition year and hope she will stay with our team for years to come.”
Lynn has been with District 15 for eight years, starting as a lunch mom at Kimball Hill when her son was in first grade. She was raised in Mt. Prospect and attended Hersey High School. Before her children were born, she was office manager for an electronics firm. Lynn and her husband Kevin have lived in Rolling Meadows for 20 years and are the parents of two Rolling Meadows High School students: Kristin, a senior, and Kyle, a freshman. When her children were younger, Lynn was active in the Kimball Hill PTA, chairing the book fair, fun fair, and holiday bazaar. She is looking forward to returning to The Learning Academy next year, and recently hosted a holiday party for TLA staff members at her home. “It’s nice to be together again,” she said. “We miss each other.”
