Four District 15 Teams Earn Trophies in FIRST LEGO League Competition
Teams from four District 15 schools walked away with trophies from the FIRST LEGO League state competition held December 14 at Forest View Educational Center.
Students had to build and program robots to perform specified tasks. This year’s theme was “City Scapes,” and robots had to be able to successfully complete tasks such as repairing infrastructure, harvesting food, building housing and more. Approximately 2,000 people—students, coaches and advisors, parents and volunteers—attended the event, which was sponsored by Motorola.
District 15 teams and their awards were: the Gray M. Sanborn STRIPES, who won a “Rookie of the Year” award; the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars and the Paddock Panthers who both won “Against All Odds” awards for overcoming obstacles in preparing their entry; and the Quantum Knights from Carl Sandburg Junior High, who won the “Teamwork” award.
