Dr. Conyers Earns “Hall of Fame” Award
from Oklahoma State University

Dr. John G. Conyers, superintendent of Community Consolidated School District 15, has been selected for induction into the Hall of Fame of the College of Education at Oklahoma State University.

Being selected for the Hall of Fame is the highest honor given by OSU’s College of Education. The award, now in its fourth year, recognizes alumni of the university whose outstanding professional and personal achievements have brought honor and distinction to the college and the university and who have provided exemplary service to society.

Dr. Conyers received his Ed.D. in educational administration from the OSU College of Education in 1976. His career since that time has been one of outstanding achievement, marked with personal awards such as being named Illinois “Superintendent of the Year” in 1999 and receiving the Illinois State Board of Education “Break the Mold” award and an Award of Excellence in its “Those Who Excel” program, both in 1998, as well as numerous awards for District 15.

Dr. Conyers, who recently announcement his retirement from District 15 effective at the end of the current school year, has been superintendent in the district since 1985.

He will be inducted into the OSU College of Education Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the university in Stillwater, Oklahoma, next spring. A permanent plaque on display in the College of Education will honor Dr. Conyers and other Hall of Fame recipients.
