John G. Conyers Learning Academy aids Canine Companions for Independence
Students of the John G. Conyers Learning Academy presented a $1,950.00 check to Canine Companions for Independence on Monday June 2, 2003. The money, accepted by CCI representatives Amy Campos and Debbie Felkamp, was raised by the Learning Academy during a just-completed fund drive. It will help offset the expense of raising and training an assistance dog that will ultimately be given to a person coping with a physical disability.
“The students and staff of the John G. Conyers Learning Academy are very grateful to the many employees, students and parents of District 15, as well as many local business for their generous support through cash donations and purchases of approximately 500 dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts," said principal Deborah Zech.
