Walter R. Sundling Students Bring History Alive
Who: Eighth grade gifted students
What: 20th Century History Expo
Where: Walter R. Sundling Junior High, 1100 N. Smith St., Palatine
When: Friday, May 2 8:20-11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Details: Students will give in-depth presentations on various 20th century historical topics including:
- The Berlin Airlift - Hitler - Japanese internment camps - Woodstock - Flappers - Jazz
They will be role playing (in costume) various historical figures, singing the blues, dancing the Charleston, campaigning, propagandizing, protesting, and informing. Each student will use a variety of props, enticements, and appealing backboards to enhance his/her presentation.
Guests will include Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins, Judge Sam Amirante, other eighth grade students, current and former teachers, administrators, parents, grandparents, and community members.
