Two District 15 Teachers Earn IMSA Award

Lynn Garb, a teacher from Central Road School, and Gary Bartholomew, a teacher from Walter R. Sundling Junior High School, have been named 2003 Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) Award of Excellence winners for “Caring to Challenge.”

The award is presented annually in recognition of educators who have most challenged, inspired, and supported students’ academic and personal growth prior to their enrollment at IMSA. Garb and Bartholomew were nominated by former students.

The awards will be presented on March 14 during the 2003 Caring to Challenge Teacher Recognition Day program at the academy, which is in Aurora.

“You and others in your school district are responsible for creating and maintaining the school learning environment where students can excel,” said the notification each teacher received. “Your selection as an IMSA Award of Excellence is a credit to you, your school, and your district.”
